Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2020
UPSC Notification 2020 was released by Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) on February 12. The UPSC IAS notification was issued for 796 vacancies. The IAS Prelims exam will be conducted on May 31, 2020 in two sessions.
IAS Application process
The IAS application link is activated after the issuance of UPSC notification 2020. The candidates can apply till March 3 and the Application correction window will open on March 10, 2020. The application fee is Rs 100 but it is waived for females and SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
The candidates need the following documents with them for the registration and IAS application 2020.
- Adhar Number
- Scanned image of the Candidate
- Scanned image of the signature of the candidate
- The details related to academic qualifications.
For the new registration
- Visit the official website of UPSC.
- Click on Exam Notifications tab.
- Click on Apply Online link.
- Click on the link available for Civil Services Part-I registration.
- Read the application form instructions carefully and click on Yes.

Once all the details are filled, click on Continue. Check all details in the online form carefully and click on Submit.
Civil Services (IAS) Part-II Registration 2020
For part-II registrations, candidates need to complete the following steps:
Step 1: Pay IAS application fee online (through SBI Net Banking/ debit card/ credit card) or offline (by cash through SBI bank challan) mode.

Step 3: Enter the following information in the Civil Services(IAS) online application form 2020:
Application fee payment details (except for fee exempted candidates) | Selection of examination centre |
Step 4: Click on the ‘I Agree’ button after reading the declaration.
Step 5: On clicking the button, a page with a registration number will be generated. Note down the registration number or take a printout of the page.
IAS Syllabus and Exam Pattern
The IAS syllabus and exam pattern was not changed and the number of optional subjects was the same as given in the list. The exam pattern was also not changed and the UPSC is moving forward with one optional subject. There were demands from every quarter to done away with one optional subject, but it was continued this year as well.
IAS Eligibility
The eligibility for the IAS exam was not changed and the age limit for the IAS Exam as notified in the official notification is 21 years as the minimum age limit and 32 years as the maximum age limit. The candidates must not be born before 2nd August 1988 and not later than 1st August 1999.
The number of Optional subjects and the list of the subject has not been touched and the existing number of subjects will be continuing in the IAS exam 2020 also.
